You're Doing Better Than You Think
A list of proof for the middle of summer.
Hi, friends!
We thought today needed a little note for everyone to take the pressure off. A quick pep talk!
We’re in the thick of it — the part of summer where the newness has worn off and the routine hasn’t come back yet. The to-do list is long. The energy is shorter. Everyone is hot the minute you step outside. And somehow the days feel both endless and like they’re slipping through your fingers at the same time.
If you’ve been feeling behind, uninspired, or just a little worn down lately — that’s not a personal failing. That’s just where we are. Mid-July is always like this. We should expect it, but instead it catches us by surprise every year.
So consider this your reminder to put the list down for a second. Not forever. Just long enough to take a breath and notice that you are actually doing a lot of things really well.
And just so we’re clear — here are 10 things you’re doing right:
Not saying out loud the thing you were absolutely thinking.
Answering the email asking a question you’ve already answered.
Drinking one sip of water in between coffees.
Making it to camp drop-off with the correct child and most of their belongings.
Moving the laundry to the dryer before it needed to be washed again.
Remembering the password without having to reset it.
Getting out of the house when you needed a change of scenery — or just better air-conditioning.
Texting back while the conversation was still somewhat relevant.
Feeding yourself actual meals, mostly.
Waking up and starting again, even when yesterday was a lot.
That’s real. That counts. All of it!
The second half of summer doesn’t have to be better or more productive or more anything. You’re allowed to enjoy it exactly as it is — a little messy, a little beautiful, and entirely enough.
We’re right here with you!
