60 Things to Do When Your Kids Are Bored Out of Their Minds
Save this for when you've run out of ideas and they've run out of things to do this summer!
A few weeks into summer, the excitement starts to wear off.
The novelty of sleeping in has faded. The good snacks have been eaten, the shows have been watched, the camps are over for the day, and suddenly a long afternoon stretches out ahead.
That’s usually when a familiar phrase starts making its rounds through the house:
“I’m bored.”
We tend to hear boredom as a problem that needs solving. We start offering suggestions, planning activities, or searching for ways to keep everyone entertained. But boredom isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, some of the best summer memories begin with a little extra time and not much to do.
Still, on those days when everyone is wandering around the house looking for inspiration, it helps to have a list nearby!
P.S. This isn’t a list of 60 things for you to organize, lead, or supervise from start to finish. In fact, many of these ideas work best when kids take ownership of them themselves. The goal isn’t to create more work for parents. It’s simply to offer a little inspiration when boredom strikes.
Sometimes all kids need is a spark. The fun part is seeing where their imagination takes it from there!
